Report Outlines Recommendations and Trends, Lists Top Ten Leaders in Advanced Threat Protection Solutions
OSLO, October 3, 2012 – A new report issued by analyst firm Gartner, titled “Market Trends: Advanced Threat Protection Appliances, Worldwide, 2012,” lists Norman Shark as a top ten “Vendor to Watch” and describes the company’s industry-leading Network Threat Discovery and Malware Analyzer G2 (MAG2) solutions.
“Large-enterprise and upper-midsize business segments in the United States and Europe continue to drive the greatest demand for advanced threat protection appliances,” the new Gartner report announces. It continues, “Government and financial sectors are leading early adoption in this market … likely supported by the regulatory mandates for security technologies and controls within these entities.” The report is authored by Lawrence Pingree, Gartner Research Director.
Norman Shark’s innovative Network Threat Discovery appliance is a cyberattack discovery system that sits at the network perimeter and automatically detects and collects malicious files that may have slipped past traditional security nodes. In cooperation with Norman Shark’s Malware Analyzer G2, the appliance then rates the suspicious files by risk score and alerts the security organization of a potential problem. These files may then be analyzed by the automated Malware Analyzer G2.
Malware Analyzer G2 is the industry’s only malware analysis framework to make available Hybrid SandBoxing. IT and security teams can run suspicious malware samples through the award-winning, emulated Norman Shark SandBox, and at the same time analyze the code in the virtualized IntelliVM modules. Daily experience shows that code not deemed suspicious in a virtual environment may very well be proved harmful through emulated Microsoft Windows environment inspection.
Together, Norman Shark’s Network Threat Discovery and Malware Analyzer G2 solutions deliver the best ROI available among advanced threat protection solutions.
“Senior IT and security leaders at corporations, utilities and government entities are turning to Norman Shark Threat Discovery and Malware Analyzer G2 as part of their comprehensive strategy to aggressively address the increase in number and sophistication of cyberattacks, where teams may see as many as 100,000 malicious software files in a single day,” said Torjus Gylstorff, Vice President of Enterprise Sales with Norman Shark. “Norman Shark’s dual solutions offer the scalability and intelligence to keep up with today’s increasingly powerful advanced perceived threats. Gartner’s new report recommends IT and security teams put in place capabilities such as those offered through Norman Shark’s Network Threat Discovery and Malware Analyzer G2 solutions.”
Norman Shark research completed earlier this year quantifies the need for innovative solutions. More than 60 percent of IT leaders surveyed fear malware is growing more sophisticated faster than they can upgrade their analysis capabilities. In addition, 58 percent cited the growing number of threats as their biggest worry for 2012.
