Blue Coat and Norman Shark partner to provide comprehensive threat protection to the enterprise

Blue Coat recently announced their selection of Norman Shark’s Malware Analyzer G2 (MAG2), to provide advanced sandboxing technology as a key component of their new Content Analysis System, which offers a lifecycle approach to advanced threat protection. With the addition of MAG2’s technology to Blue Coat’s platform, customers will be able to detect and analyze unknown threats, and use actionable intelligence to fortify their gateway defenses.

This partnership will have a dramatic impact on our business. We have been forecasting significant annual revenue increases based solely on organic growth, however, with this agreement our revenue for 2013 will increase by as much as 50%, and we could double the size of the company as soon as 2016.

This partnership establishes the Norman Shark solutions as best-of-breed, and is an important validation of our comprehensive sandboxing technology. Collaborating with Blue Coat to provide dynamic malware analysis tools to their 15,000 enterprise customers, presents an exciting opportunity that will help us significantly grow our business, and supports our ongoing efforts to help enterprise businesses build defensible networks.

As enterprise security teams seek ways to augment their network defenses, and focus more on preventing advanced attacks, we expect to see an increased demand for ATP solutions that include malware analysis capability with security analytics. IDC recently identified a new security market segment, ‘Specialized Threat Analysis and Protection’ (STAP) and named Norman Shark as a key player in this emerging category. IDC expects this segment to swell from $200 million worldwide in 2013, to $1.017 billion by 2017.

According to IDC, STAP solutions are ‘signatureless’ and include sandboxing, data analytics and containerization to detect malicious activity. Norman Shark’s automated malware analysis toolset includes proprietary sandbox emulation technology, combined with unique IntelliVM customized virtualization environments. Additionally, our MAG2 products have been developed with a flexible API to facilitate task automation and allow for easy interconnection within existing networks. This enables security teams to analyze up to 50,000 files per day without requiring extensive resources to deploy and maintain.

Designed for ease of integration into complex customer workflow processes and extended IS frameworks, the MAG2 is an ideal solution for OEMs looking to add behavioral analysis anti-malware technologies to a security portfolio. Our team continues to develop our solution platform to offer product functionality and services tailored to OEM requirements, and our collaboration with Blue Coat Systems will provide value insight into the tools and support required for successful OEM deployments.

“In today’s climate of persistent threats, network defense alone is no longer enough. In order to protect networks from the proliferation of targeted attacks and unknown threats, analysts need dynamic malware intelligence capabilities that allow them to respond quickly in the event of an incursion.”
